DOG TRAINING

I HAVE BEEN TRAINING MY DOGS FOR NUMEROUS YEARS AND BEFORE I HAD POINTERS I HAD GSD'S THAT WE DID OBEDIENCE AND AGILITY DISPLAYS AROUND THE COUNTRY, WHICH HAS GIVEN ME THE THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO TRAIN DOGS TO A HIGH LEVEL OF OBEDIENCE.

WE WILL BE ABLE TO TEACH YOUR DOG TO WALK TO HEEL ON AND OFF A LEAD, (WITHOUT PULLING ANY ARMS OUT OF THEIR SOCKETS) BOTH SIT AND DOWN STAY FOR 10 MINUTES PLUS, AND TEACH YOUR DOG TO SIT ON A WHISTLE, BOTH CLOSE AND AT A DISTANCE, COME BACK TO A WHISTLE AND TO STOP ON A WHISTLE. WE CAN ALSO OFFER TRAINING TO THE GUN, RETRIEVAL OF DUMMIES, DUMMY LAUNCHER AND GAME. 

THIS TYPE OF TRAINING IS THE BASIC'S THAT ALL GUNDOGS SHOULD HAVE (THE GUN AND DUMMY WORK IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR A PET, BUT THEY LOVE DOING WHAT COMES NATURALLY AND EVEN PET HOMES SHOULD INVEST IN A £5 DUMMY!) IF YOU ARE WANTING DOGS TRAINED TO FIELD TRIAL STANDARD I CAN SUGGEST RORY MAJOR, AS HE FINISHED OFF THE TRAINING OF DIPPER (ANDSAL BEST MATE) AND THEN HE WENT ON TO WIN A FIELD TRIAL AT HIS SECOND ATTEMPT.

IF YOUR DOG HAVE A SPECIFIC PROBLEM WE WILL TRY TO FIND OUT THE CAUSE AND THEN RE-TRAIN YOUR DOG SO HOPEFULLY HE/SHE GOES HOME PROBLEM FREE! MOST PROBLEMS CAN BE RECTIFIED, BUT I MUST STRESS THAT WE WILL NOT TAKE ON DOGS THAT HAVE BIG AGGRESSION PROBLEMS (I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP ALL MY FINGERS IN TACT) IF YOU HAVE A DOG THAT HIS BITTEN SOMEONE OUT OF AGGRESSION OR FEAR AND HAS CAUSED DAMAGE SUCH AS A WOUND NEEDING STITCHES ETC.. THEN I WOULD SERIOUSLY ASK YOU TO CONSIDER HAVING YOUR DOG PUT TO SLEEP.  HOWEVER.... MOUTHING, WHICH IS COMMON IN GUNDOGS IS ANOTHER MATTER, WE CAN ALSO CURE GROWLING IN MOST CASES, BUT I WOULD ASK YOU TO BE HONEST WITH ME BEFORE THE DOG ARRIVES TO THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM

I GET ASKED "HOW LONG WILL YOU HAVE MY DOG FOR" WELL THAT REALLY DOES DEPEND ON WHAT LEVEL OF TRAINING YOU WANT YOUR DOG TO REACH, AND ALSO IF THERE IS A SPECIFIC PROBLEM, THAT MIGHT TAKE A LITTLE LONGER TO IRON OUT. SO THE ANSWER IS - IT DEPENDS ON YOU AND IT WILL ALSO DEPEND ON THE AGE OF THE DOG, AS DOGS OVER A YEAR OLD HAVE A BIGGER CONCENTRATION SPAN THAN SAY A PUPPY OF 6 MONTHS

WE OFFER TRAINING TO ANY BREED OF GUNDOG, AND WE MAY CONSIDER OTHER BREEDS BUT NOT THOSE ON THE LIST OF DANGEROUS DOGS.

DOGS WILL NEED TO BE UP TO DATE WITH THEIR VACCINATIONS AND THE CARD WILL NEED TO BE BROUGHT WHEN YOUR DOG ARRIVES.

We have a 6 month old Vizsla Bitch and had been experiencing difficulties with pack leadership, obedience and had some instances of undesirable behaviour such as resource guarding and growling. 

Having tried the methods of a behavioural trainer with limited success, I was recommended by a Vizsla breeder to get in touch with Sally. 

After a very helpful phone call, we agreed to book Marnie in for some residential training. The setting is fantastic, with excellent areas to do training and excellent facilities for the dogs. Sally spoke to us most days, though that would have been every day if we had chosen too. She is a fantastic trainer, who understands the needs of the dog, but as importantly our needs as owners. She reassured me constantly of Marnie’s progress and well being and of my ability to become a more effective handler. Within a week Marnie was sitting, walking to heel, sitting on a whistle and laying down on command. As importantly Sally identified difficulties with Marnie’s food and eating regime.

Changing her eating regime and feeding her the right amount of food has greatly helped with her anxiety and resource guarding as she no longer panics that she won’t be getting enough food. She also looks fantastic and healthy now.  

She has returned home after two weeks a calmer, happier , healthier dog who has in essence been taken back to basics and become a dog again. She has been home two days and we are thrilled with her behaviour. This continues with us putting into place everything Sally has taught us. On collection of Marnie,  we spent a great day with Sally and Paul. We were thoroughly welcomed, listened to and made to feel confident in our abilities and not shamed by any mistakes that we had made. Sally spent time with me showing me how to feed Marnie and all the training commands she had worked on with her. Then I did it with Sally until I was confident to carry it on at home. 

Since being home we have continued to have contact with Sally, to ensure that everything is going well. 

I would thoroughly recommend this training, Sally’s genuine regard and warmth for the dogs as well as her reassuring approach for the owner alongside excellent training are invaluable.
